Purpose
In the event of an encroaching fire, the device is positioned next to the deepest end of a swimming pool or similar water source and is plugged into an electrical socket. Users extend the immersion pipe to the bottom of the pool and switch on the pump. The hose then directs the pumped water toward the fire and/or to dampen the property. If evacuation is necessary, the hose is set on a stand and positioned to either direct the water onto a specific spot or set to oscillate via a swivel device. In the event of a power outage, the photo-voltaic cell powers the equipment to keep it running. If the water source is used up, a sensor at the base of the immersion pipe shuts off the equipment.
The Problem
Wildfires can be terrifying, especially when property is threatened.

Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Dulais Rhys of Billings, Montana has created a wildfire extinguishing system that uses water from a swimming pool!
While living in California, it was not uncommon for the news to feature the destruction of property and loss of life caused by wildfires. Reports often showed futile attempts by homeowners to fight the fire and/or tamp down their property with only a garden hose.
Dulais noticed that many of the homes prone to wildfires had swimming pools. He began thinking of a way to use this existing water supply to fight an encroaching fire more effectively, even if a property has to be abandoned and developed Douse My House!
